Pietro Coletta was born in Bari on December 2, 1948. In 1967 he moved to Milan and enrolled at the Brera Academy, where he attended sculpture courses by Marino Marini, Alik Cavaliere and Lorenzo Pepe. In 1969 he took studio in Corso Garibaldi where he still works and lives. He teaches sculpture at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. Since 2016 he has been a member of the National Academy of San Luca. Among the most important participations in national and international exhibitions: "Premio San Fedele" in Milan at the "XV Festival dei due Mondi" in Spoleto; "Quadriennale di Roma" in 1975, "Pittura Ambiente al Palazzo Reale", Milan 1979, "Lenbachhaus" in Munich, Hayward Gallery in London in "Arte Italiana" 1960-82, Power Gallery in Sydney and at the University Art Museum in Brisbane, at the Venice Biennale, Italian Pavilion. [...] In 1990 he exhibited at the Toyama Biennial in Japan and a solo show at Studio G7 in Bologna[...] In 2004 he participated in "Italian Sculpture 1960-2004" at "La Palomba" Sculpture Park in Matera. In 2005 he participated in "Italian Sculpture of the 20th Century" at the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation in Milan. Finally, in 2006 "Myths - Myths and Archetypes in the Sea of Knowledge" at the Byzantine and Christian Museum in Athens[...] is remembered. In 2009 he created the permanent installation "Essence of Flight, Flight of Essence" at UCLA University of Los Angeles and in 2013 he participated in the 2013 "International Sculpture Festa", Hangaram Museum, Seoul Arts Center.
