Second Self Laboratory
The Second Self Laboratory is a collection of suits—or costumes— based on archetypical characters from literature, theater, and mythology, designed to allow you an opportunity to try out different social roles.
With this, his graduation project from last year, Jan Pieter Kaptein plays on the idea that we are constantly wearing costumes of a sort that reveal information about ourselves. Suggesting that these costumes change the way we behave, eat, drink, speak, and think, he asks what you want to try out being: “a judge, an executioner, a stranger, monster, outcast, or Mr. Ordinary?”
Monster please!
