A collaboration between Wieki Somers and Alexander McQueen

Blossom Rain

Last week, Rotterdam's Studio Wieki Somers teamed up with Milan's Alexander McQueen boutique to debut a beautiful, site-specific installation called Blossom Rain. Inspired by the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2015 collection, the presentation spotlit three geisha warriors—geishas also being part of the inspiration behind  Somers's recent lighting designs—attended by the studio's lamps, all standing against a blossom haze, lasercut backdrop created by textile manufacturer Kvadrat. The installation also included a selection of the studio's work, such as Frozen in Time (2010), Mitate (2013), Sprout (2014), Time Flies (2014), and Magic Mirror (2015). Just gorgeous.

Well done, both!
